Moving on

Following the undulating path, beside the lakes, I climbed upwards towards the Plant Sales area, within the walled garden. Here I met the Head Gardener – who was only visiting the garden from Yorkshire, when he was offered the job – and a lovely lady dismantling a trug full of Marwoods exquisite Camellia blooms, which she had shown at RHS Spring Show. It is a must, to visit this area and purchase some of the plants, shrubs and herbs on sale. Marwood has the most beautiful Wisterias in three different colours, pink, purple and white – I didn’t even know they came in different colours. Still, no one would ever call me a gardener. I have a job keeping a Spider plant alive.

Leaving the Plant Sales area, I made my way to the gorgeous Tea Room and Gift Shop – certainly is a room with a view -. I was warmly greeted by Property Manager Patricia Stout, we couldn’t shake hands and an elbow tap wasn’t for us. Patricia has been at Marwood for fifteen years and is passionate about her work and the fabulous surroundings. “What better place to be, when you need to clear your head” she enthuses, ” just to walk around the garden for twenty minutes, puts a different perspective on the world”. I can’t say I disagree with her. My amble around had certainly made me feel calm and peaceful.

I had a fantastic afternoon at Marwood Hill Gardens it is a most enjoyable place to visit. Certainly a place to add to your wish list, for more redistricted times. The tea room serves light lunches and huge slices of homemade cake., out door seating is also available. I was amazed to be told they also cater for weddings and private parties. This is certainly a place were dreams are made. Thank you to all concerned, for your time and letting me roam your “paradise valley.”
