Sandy’s career – which has spanned all her adult life – began during her early twenties in Japan. ” I was lost ” she told me, “I didn’t even know where Japan was, but I ended up there”. Spending three years in the ceramic pottery village of Mashiko, with a thousand other ceramicists. Sandy then made her way back to England, starting a small studio in a garage in Hampshire. Eventually, she moved to Appledore, North Devon, where she has lived for the past twenty eight years, during which time Sandy has established a very successful career, with a large international following.
